The Wanted singer Nathan Sykes to go on hiatus

British heartthrob group The Wanted will be short one cutie for awhile. On Wednesday, singer Nathan Sykes was sent into throat surgery in Los Angeles and will have to take an extended break from singing. The band released this statement: "We can confirm that The Wanted's Nathan Sykes will undergo specialist throat surgery on Thursday 18th April in Los Angeles and as such will be taking unforeseen hiatus from The Wanted." The statement adds, "The priority for Nathan, his label and management is that he is given time to recover and receive the best treatment possible. The remaining four members of The Wanted will continue fulfilling the band's promotional commitments across the world." The statement adds, "The priority for Nathan, his label and management is that he is given time to recover and receive the best treatment possible. The remaining four members of The Wanted will continue fulfilling the band's promotional commitments across the world." The band is set to go on tour in June. In the days leading up to the announcement, Sykes sent out a few vague tweets about feeling "gutted." After someone else tweeted that he was going into surgery, Sykes tweeted back, "Gonna try and stay positive as much as I can :)" The rest of the band posted their support on Facebook: "Our lil Nath has to go in for an operation on his throat, on his birthday to make him better. So please join us in wishing our brother and our friend well. Get well soon Nath, we love ya!"
