BlackBerry mutes its BBM Music service

BlackBerry mutes its BBM Music service

With BlackBerry finally getting a full touch screen Smartphone, the company has discontinued its music service which could have been seen as doomed from the beginning. #BlackberryMusic Radio Nobex Favorite on Twitpic According to The Washington Post, BlackBerry is putting its music streaming service on mute as of June 2. BBM Music subscribers were informed by email this week. Current subscribers have been offered a free 30-day trial for competitor, Rdio. The music streaming service for BB users is being canceled after only two years of service. BB’s strategy might have ruined the service from the start, reports TechSpot. For $4.99 a month, BB users could only download 50 songs to their Smartphone from a library of millions of songs. The neat thing BB tried to do was have a 'catch.' If another BB user paid for the same service, then the two users could share their music downloads. One problem is that BB’s popularity was already down when the music service took off in August 2011. Competitors, on the other hand, offer unlimited downloads without any restrictions. While owners of the new BB10 don’t have to worry of the service being on their Smartphones, BB recommends owners who did subscribe delete the program once it’s finished.
