BILLY EDWARDS: God wants us to be witnesses for Him in our daily lives

BILLY EDWARDS: God wants us to be witnesses for Him in our daily lives
When we receive Christ as our Savior, we are placed in the Body of Christ. The Body of Christ is made up of all kinds of people from all races, cultures and creeds. Members of this unique body of people have one common characteristic and this is that all of them are professed believers in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior of their lives. The Bible talks about being one with Him. We are made one through the blood of Christ. Everyone who has accepted Christ as their Savior and is doing their best to live life in accordance with His law is pleasing and honorable. The most rewarding experiences of the Christian life are to yield our life to Him and to be used by Him in this life. The Lord has chosen us and has given us the distinct privilege of spreading the Good News of the salvation of Jesus Christ to those who need to hear it. We are Christ’s hands and feet while we are here on this earth. We are to do the things that He wants us to do and go where He wants us to go. For most people, the Lord does not require us to pull up roots and go halfway around the world to preach the Gospel. He may lead some to do this, but for the vast majority of us, He can use us right where we are. To be a witness for Christ takes no special training or skill; anybody can do it if they have a willing heart and a devoted love for others to come to salvation. The most effective way to do this is by telling them about how you came to know Christ as your Lord and Savior. It doesn’t have to be anything long and elaborate. To the contrary, keep it as short and concise as possible. You don’t have to give your whole life’s story. Another important thing to do is to listen to what they have to say. Don’t make it a one-way conversation. To know where they are coming from, you have to be willing to listen. Listen to them not just with your ears, but with your mind and heart as well. Be genuinely concerned about what they have to say and how they are feeling. Be sure to convey to them Christ’s unending love which compelled Him to go to the cross and die for their sins. It is up to you to keep the conversation on track. You should confess to them that you may not have the answer to their questions but you will try your best to get them one. The Bible says that we should always be ready to give an answer for the hope that is in us. It has been said, and truthfully so, that our lives may be the only Bible some people ever read. What is your life saying about your faith and walk with the Lord? Are you living and sharing your life in a way that shows Christ’s presence? We have all heard the old adage that a picture is worth a thousand words. This is true about our faith in Christ, too. The way we live our life and the way we handle its challenges in a Godly manner can speak louder than any words can describe. The bond of Christian kinship is stronger than any bond known to man. In Christ we are family! There is nothing in this world that can sever this bond of Christian family. The Bible says in Galatians 3:28, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” No matter who we are or where we come from in life, we are united in Him. As the Body of Christ, or the Church, we can stand strong and firm in our faith, knowing that He is with us. We can depend on our Christian brothers and sisters to be there for us to support and pray for us in any way they can. This is what family is for; this is what it is all about! A family grows together. They hurt when others hurt, and they rejoice when others rejoice. They share our sorrows and bear one another’s burdens. We all have concerns and trials that we have to endure but we don’t have to do it alone. We have the Lord to help us and He has given us each other to lean on and support as our Christian family. The Lord knew we could never make it on our own so He gave us people who love and accept us as we are. We have our natural family, then have our spiritual family. We are born into our natural family through the natural birth. We are born into our spiritual family by acknowledging Christ as our Lord and Savior. You do this by asking Christ to forgive you of your sins and to come into your heart. Until next week — God bless.
