Note: This post discusses last night's season finale of How I Met Your Mother. If you haven't seen it, you may wanna skip it to avoid any spoilers!
I don't usually do a "Talk Back" for How I Met Your Mother, but last night the show delivered something we never thought we'd see:
The Mother.
Yes, in the final scene of an otherwise average episode, things started to come together. After Ted revealed he was planning a move to Chicago, viewers saw that yellow umbrella and bass we've heard so much about. Then, for the first time, the camera panned to her face.
For years fans (and the cast and crew) have been debating whether HIMYM should reveal its most important character. What do you think about the decision to show her before the final season? Was it a smart move, or does it ruin the mystery element of the series?
The actress playing the mother has been identified as Cristin Milioti, best known for her Tony-nominated performance in Broadway's Once. (Here's the scoop on how she was cast.) Although she's only had seconds of screen time, do you approve of the casting choice?
Personally, I think it was a smart idea to reveal the mother, particularly since this has been the show's most lackluster season. I think her presence will not only give viewers the satisfaction they've been craving, it could inject some much-needed energy into the sitcom and help give it the must-watch final season it deserves.
